Dr. Ellen Verbakel

Verbakel studies families (in particular partner relationships and partner effects), work, and health. She was part of the Open Research Area funded project IN-CARE (2019-2022), which investigated the relationships between long-term care systems and socioeconomic disparities in (in)formal care use, health, and wellbeing in later life in Europe and Japan. In 2017, Verbakel received an Aspasia career development premium. She has contributed to establishing many relevant data sets over the years. Verbakel is past treasurer of the European Society for Health and Medical Sociology. Currently, she is educational director Sociology at Radboud University.
