Dr. Matthijs Kalmijn

Kalmijn’s research is focused on family sociology, social demography, inequality, and migration. He is a strong methodological and theoretical innovator. He has had large influence on the field through his (inter)national data infrastructures, including the Netherlands Kinship Panel Study (KNPS), the Netherlands Longitudinal Lifecourse Study (NELLS), and the ERC AdG-funded multi-actor survey Parents and Children in the Netherlands (OKiN). Kalmijn is an elected member of the Academia Europeae and serves on the editorial boards of important journals like European Sociological Review.
