About Hannah

I am a PhD candidate at Utrecht University and part of the SOCION consortium, where I study how diversity, equity and inclusion policies in organizations can contribute to social cohesion at work, under the supervision of Jojanneke van der Toorn and Zoltan Lippenyi. Drawing on sociology and social psychology, my research examines how organizational structures and policies shape inclusion and belonging among minority and majority groups, combining organizational-level policy data with employee outcomes. The aim is to understand how organizations can design and implement policies that support disadvantaged groups while fostering an inclusive environment for all employees.
My current research approach is informed by my interdisciplinary background, my work as an applied researcher for a non-profit organization focused on strengthening people’s sense of belonging in diverse societies, and my broader research interests in belonging, multicultural identity, and acceptance by oneself and others. I am also interested in connecting academic research with practical questions about how institutions and organizations can foster more inclusive environments.
