I am Associate Professor at the University of Groningen. As a social psychologist, I study group dynamics and communication, focusing in particular on how everyday interactions can catalyze polarization and drive social change. I recently received early career awards from the European Association of Social Psychology (EASP) and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).
During my PhD, I specialized in how conversational dynamics shape social processes such as belonging and validation. I also examined how voters perceive non-voters in terms of group inclusion and exclusion. For my dissertation, I received several awards, including the Wierenga-Rengerink Prize and the ASPO Best Dissertation Award (2014).
