About Christian

I am a Senior Researcher at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute, part of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, where I work in the Migration & Migrants and Data Infrastructure & Open Science Departments. I am affiliated with the University of Groningen.

My research focuses on migration and integration, intergroup relations, and political communication, employing quantitative and computational methods. My work has been published in esteemed general social science journals like Social Forces, European SociologicalReview, and European Journal of Political Research, as well as top-tier specialty outlets such as Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Journal of Computational Social Science, and Mass Communication and Society.

I hold a doctoral degree in Social Sciences from the Cologne Graduate School in Management, Economics and Social Sciences, and studied Sociology at the Universities of Mannheim and Cologne.

Before joining NIDI, I worked at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Tel Aviv University, and the University of Cologne, where I have gained extensive experience teaching quantitative methods and research design and supervising students. I was also a visiting researcher at Radboud University Nijmegen and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies.
