I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Radboud University. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Research Master’s degree in Behavioural and Social Sciences from the University of Groningen. During my studies, I worked as the coordinator of the faculty’s Methodology Shop, where I provided statistical and methodological consultations to students and staff members.
My research interests broadly center on the topic of disability, including intellectual disability, neurodiversity, and caregiving. In my PhD project, supervised by Katia Begall, Lianne Aarntzen, and Ellen Verbakel, I combine perspectives from social psychology and sociology to explore the social relationships of informal caregivers. As populations age, an increasing number of people take on informal caregiving responsibilities, which can have consequences for other areas of their lives. My research aims to explore when, why, and under which conditions informal caregiving has negative or positive consequences for caregivers’ social relationships.
