I am a professor in the Department of Sociology at Radboud University in Nijmegen. I obtained my PhD in Sociology in 2008 from Radboud University and worked as an assistant professor in Tilburg until 2012. I serve as a board member of the Dutch Sociological Association (NSV) and the European Society of Health and Medical Sociology (ESHMS). I am a family sociologist, with particular interest in partner relations, work, and health.
My recent research focuses on informal care and has been supported by an Aspasia and ORA grant. I investigate the labour market and well-being consequences of providing informal care, as well as the socio-economic and life-stage inequalities associated with it. I have published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Marriage and Family, European Sociological Review, Journal of Gerontology – Social Sciences, European Journal of Population, and Social Science Research.
