About Eva

I am Professor of Empirical and Theoretical Sociology and a member of the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) at Utrecht University. I am also a member of the ICS Research Line Migration and Social Stratification.

My research interests lie at the intersection of networks, diversity, and inequality. I aim to understand how people’s contexts, interactions, and relations with (dis)similar others shape their patterns of behavior and their outcomes at school, at work, and at home. I have published in journals such as American Sociological Review, European Sociological Review, Social Networks, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, and Sex Roles.

I have managed various large-scale data collections and received multiple grants from NWO and the Volkswagen Stiftung. I am involved in several international research projects, for example on network interventions to counter polarization (INCLUSIVITY) and research on the transition to parenthood for same-sex couples (GENPARENT). I am a Fellow of the Gravitation Program SCOOP, the research and training centre dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of sustainable cooperation as a key feature of resilient societies. I am also a co-applicant in the prestigious NWO Summit Grant for research consortiums: Social Cohesion – Towards a New Fabric of Society (SOCION).
