I am assistant professor of Economic and Social History at Utrecht University.

I am an economic historian with broad interests in long run development, globalization and colonialism. My research focusses on the role and interplay of geography and institutions in the long run development of India. I use historical data from the colonial period and GIS mapping to analyse patterns of development across the subcontinent. Before joining Utrecht, I was a Lecturer at the University of Bristol in the UK.
